The Nothe Fort has its
own living history group, The Nothe Fort Volunteer Artillery who re-enact
the daily life of the gunners and their wives of the artillery garrison of
the fort in the 1890s – spit and polish, foot and weapons drill. The group is armed with carbines of the period and a small
cannon has been constructed for the demonstration of firing drills.
At present the
group man the fort every other Sunday and take part in the Victorian
Military Festivals held at the fort which are attended by other military
re-enactors, notably The Fort Cumberland Guard and Instructor in Musketry
Staff Sergeant Baines and his team.
The group is always looking for new recruits –
