Other Information : In August 1943, on their way to the UK from Sierre Leone, my father and Anton Bego were manning anti-aircraft and anti-submarine guns aboard their merchantman - Prince Andrej - when German Dornie attacked with glider bombs.
They were lucky to come out unscathed because they had some pretty close calls when the bombs flew at lightning speed past their ship, missing it by very little. Thanks to the Nazi aviators who had little experience with the new weapon that both my father and Anton Bego survived. Also, their gunnery trainning in Manchester and Barrow kept them in good stead as well.
If anyone knows what happened to Yugoslavian ships such as Triglav, Ratom, Putnik, Olga Topic, Dunav, Dubrovnik, Bosnia, Split or any other Yugoslavian Merchant Vessels, I am sure my father would like to know. He is now retired and writing his memoirs.

Other Information : Donald Barwick escaped from Singapore with my wifes Grandfather Lester Wyatt just after the fall of Singapore. They made there way by small boat out of Singapore, then Island hopped with some help from the natives before they found four other allied escapees. The group made there way to Sumatra were they and two hundred other allied escapees were picked up by the SS De Wiert and taken to Ceylon. From Ceylon they were returned to Australia aboard the Stirling Castle. Any information about Mr Barwick or any information about other Escapees from Singapore would be greatly appreciated and welcomed.
